The modernization of agriculture is characterized by the withdrawal of some traditional crops in favor of new, more homogeneous culture and high yield and has led to the reduction of the promotion of other cultures. Enhance this full identified and characterize grain of local ecotypes Bambara groundnut (Vigna subterranea) has become a high necessity. Also 19 cultivars of these leguminous were collected for three years from local farmers of the Sudano-Sahelian zone of Cameroon. Grains of different cultivars were planted in the field of completely randomized design. These cultivars have been characterized using the cultivar keys of identification. This characterization permits in one hand to 3 quality cultivars are obtained with large seeds (Black eye, Raffa and Ouldeme) and 5 cultivar seeds of medium size (Going, Mendéo, Kodek, Lordi and Sorawel). The different cultivars start flowering in effective as from 40 days and maturity of seeds is reached as from 75 days after sowing. Resistances to diseases commonly affecting plants have been observed in Zoanang, Sorawel, Hina, Galadji, Raffa and Mendéo cultivars. No development of pest’s insect has been recorded on Raffa, Lordi, Ouldeme, Kodek, Blackeye, Mendéo and Sorawel cultivars. These cultivars are the most promising for genetic modification.
